Melville Theatre
The Melville Theatre at the Drama Centre provides a focus for a whole range of theatrical and artistic activities for people in Abergavenny and the surrounding area. Regular programmes of plays, films and workshops are presented by innovative small scale professional theatre companies, with a particular focus for young people.
The Melville is a small, intimate and friendly theatre - the ideal place to relax in a convivial atmosphere, meet your friends for a drink before the show and enjoy some of the varied events on offer from companies such as Gwent Theatre, Sherman Theatre, Wales Actors, Hijinx Theatre, Theatr lolo, Guy Materson, Gwent Young People's Theatre and the Mighty Pledge.
The Melville Theatre has recently been refurbished with a grant from the Arts Council of Wales Lottery Fund. Its raked auditorium now has comfortable seating, new sound, lighting and film resources and enhanced facilities for people with disabilities
Facilities for people with disabilities
We are committed to making our facilities easily accessible so that disabled people can enjoy and participate in all out activities. At the rear of the building, disabled parking spaces lead to well-lit access for wheelchair users. Once incide, the bar, foyer and auditorium are all accessible on one level. Two wheelchair spaces are provided in the auditorium and an infra-red audio system is available for the hard of hearing. There is also a toilet facility for people with disabilities
Please advise the booking office of your requirements when booking; we also suggest that you confirm the availablity of wheelchair spaces in advance of the performance.
How to book your tickets
To book tickets in advance for events at the Melville Theatre, either phone the Borough Theatre box office on 01873 850805 for Visa or Mastercard credit card sales, or call in person at the Borough Theatre box office at any time between 9.30am and 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
Subject to demand, tickets may also be available on the night at the Melville.
